Off the Shuttle: Tatted Ornament with Butterfly

I'm making more paper ornaments, now getting fancier with the tatted edgings. The thread for this one is size 20 Lizbeth in colorway no. 163 "Blue Ice." The pattern is "Edging 13" from Embellishing with Edgings" by Handy Hands, edited by Barbara Foster. The butterfly sticker is from K&Company's "Clearly Yours" epoxy stickers.

Off the Shuttle: Tatting on Paper Hearts

These little paper hearts are made with acid-free construction paper using Martha Stewart paper punches. The threads on the pink hearts are vintage size 80 variegated threads. The threads on the red heart are vintage red size 80 thread and white Lizbeth size 80 thread from Handy Hands tatting supplies vendor.

Off the Shuttle: More Tatting on Paper

Two more tatted ornaments on the Martha Stewart Crafts die-cut lace tags, this time with purchased stickers added.

The one below uses size 20 Lizbeth thread in colorway no. 124 "Spring Garden" with a sticker featuring a flower print that picks up some of the colors in the thread. The sticker is from a package of K&Company's Grand Adhesions Brenda Walton Flora & Fauna Typewriter Key dimensional stickers.

The one below is also tatted in size 20 Lizbeth thread in colorway no. 112 "Carousel" with a sunflower sticker. The sticker is from a package of Momenta metal stickers.

Both tatted edgings are simple rings and chains of 6 double stitches separated by picots. These have been fun and quick to make, but the one I'm now working on will have a more complicated edging.

Off the Shuttle: Paper Disk with Tatted Embellishments

More tatting on paper. This time on one of the designs from a package of Martha Stewart Crafts die-cut lace tags. The paper shape is around 2.5" across. The tatting thread is size 20 Lizbeth in color 153 "Rainbow Taffy." All rings and chains have 6 double stitches separated by picots. The butterfly is the pattern printed in the Handy Hands catalog. There are two other designs in the package of tags, so I'll be playing with tatting on these too.

Off the Hook: Baby Cardigan Crocheted in Shades of Orange

This is the 3rd sweater I've crocheted using this pattern. It was originally published by Doreen Knitting Books, Volume 100, in 1950, and I found it free on the Web. The yarn is On-Line Linie 152 Paloma Konfetti, a nylon/polyacryl blend that works up soft and easy. The colorway is 42, variegated shades of orange. I think the yarn has been discontinued, at least according to Webs, which was the source for my 2 skeins.

Off the Needles: Floral Stripe Baby Cardigan

Another baby sweater. This time a top-down long-sleeve cardigan. The yarn is Bernat Baby Jacquards Florals in colorway "Petunia." The yarn is dyed so that little flowers appear among the white stripes. Gives a sort of fair isle effect without all the stranding work. The pattern is "Raglan Cardigan" from 60 Quick Baby Knits, a book featuring Cascade Yarns. To complete the motif I chained some button loops and added 3 flower-shaped buttons.

Off the Needles: Baby Cardigan in Shades of Blue

I had a stash of small amounts of yarn too short to use alone so I tried to find colors that would match up well. I started at the neck with the aqua until I ran out of it. The next part is a variegated yarn that has some of the same aqua in it. When I ran out of that yarn, I used a solid blue that is the same shade as the darker blue in the variegated. The result was a surprisingly put-together use of leftover stash. I've made this pattern before; it's from the Leisure Arts leaflet "Knit Lace & Leaves for Baby." I gave the sweater to my niece to give to her sister who recently had a baby.
